Tuscany in September

    Hi all

I'm thinking of visiting Tuscany in September 5 -7 days but had thought of staying somewhere with a beach and then travel in to Florence on a couple of day trips. Is this possible or should I just stay in Florence or go to a beach type village.

Any recommendations with respect to location and hotel or apartment.

Have look at a town called Viareggio. About 1 and half hours by train from Florence. Good connections by train to Pisa and Lucca.

Also check "agriturismo". Good value for accommodation.

Would it be a bit much to say do 3 days in Viareggio and then go down to the Amalfi coast for a few days?
