I bought a sony playTV Tuner for 20 euro to use on my Edision OS Mini to take advantage of the twin tuner for DTT. I downloaded the dib0700 driver from the plugins and the tuner was discovered and the stations play fine. The problem: the system only sees one tuner. I checked it on windows 10 and openelec using TVheadend and they both saw two tuners. Other people on this forum seem to have the two tuners working fine on enigma2. Is it possibly a driver issue? Is everyone else's PlayTv still working with two tuners? (I'm using openATV but have tried and found the same result on vix and pli)

did you turn box off with switch at back and then reboot? And it might take a few attempts but tuner could be duff as well. I have it working on openatv and vix .

I've tried that. It's a puzzle as it works great otherwise - just the one missing tuner on enigma2 (but both present and working on windows and openelec).

If you telnet into the box and type ls -l /dev/dvb

    What does it say.

    Hi STB
Did as you suggested and got:

    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 780 Jan 1 1970 adapter0
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 120 Jan 1 1970 adapter1
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 120 Jan 1 1970 adapter2

I'd start with adaptor O which I supsect is the DVB-T tuner and 1 and 2 and 3 are DVB-S2.

See how many frontends it is showing. ie ls -l /dev/dvb/adapter0

Its very strange that the device is working but that it doesnt see that it is a dual tuner, especially if both tuners show up using Windows.

All the comands you need are here. https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Archived:How_to_install_DVB_device_drivers

    Thanks for the help STB!
I have two sat tuners so you're probably right that tuner 0 must be the playtv
the output from that last command is:

So in the Info menu on your E2 image when you press nformation, then devices, the detected tuners are Three tuners ?

    A DVB-S2 NIM
    B DVB-S2 NIM
    C USB DVB

BTW According to the docs I have read USB DVB- Dual tuners are normally given their own adaptor so you should have 4 adapters if you have 2 dvb-s2 and 2 dvb-t

    /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0

    /dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0

Yes, three tuners are listed. Tuner a and b are the sat devices and the playTv is listed as tuner C: SCEH-0036 (dvb-t). Should I expect to see a tuner D also listed as SCEH-0036??

Yes. DVB Auto detection should realise there are two and display two.

I'dbe surprised if not implemented that way.

One way to check record RTE2 and try and View RTE1.

If it allows you to do that then they the number of tuners listed is misleading or implemented stranegely

I've tried that...but only the channels on the mux being recorded are not greyed out (apart from the sat channels), It looks like a weird hardware fault but for the fact that both tuners appear on windows and openelec. Unfortunately, i don't know enough about linux to compare the drivers on e2 with those on openelec ...but i'll try to brush up and figure it out.

"Can't" be a hardware fault, I have the same issue with a newly purchased PlayTV on my Technomate E2 combo box - both tuners work on Windows like yours.

Interesting! Thanks for for the info dan. I was tempted to get buy another PLaytv on ebay thinking my one might be faulty. So its definitely a driver issue on e2.

UPDATE for anyone else having a problem with getting dual tuner working.

Short answer - I think there is a hardware limitation in the Edision OS mini to three tuners.
dmesg shows 2 adapters for Sony PlayTV - so both are detected and available- no driver issue

dvb-usb: found a 'Sony PlayTV' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
dvb-usb: downloading firmware from file 'dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw'
    dib0700: firmware started successfully.
dvb-usb: found a 'Sony PlayTV' in warm state.
dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer.
dvbdev: DVB: registering new adapter (Sony PlayTV)
usb 1-1: DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend 0 (DiBcom 7000PC)...
    dib0070: DiB0070: successfully identified
dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer.
dvbdev: DVB: registering new adapter (Sony PlayTV)
usb 1-1: DVB: registering adapter 2 frontend 0 (DiBcom 7000PC)...
    dib0070: DiB0070: successfully identified

I suppose I could uninstall one of the sat tuners to check for sure - but I think i'll just accept defeat and learn to live with *only* 3 tuners!
