Iv been on eir fibre for 9 months and early on i was wary of the fair usage charges but i was never charged when i went a bit over in the 1st 3 months but still contacted a support who said i should no worries about going over,so since iv gone far over quite a few times with again no charges untill today i got a notice that iv gone over and should contact them then check my next bill has jumped to 185.50, im half way tru my contract and shocked/annoyed about this sudden change and charge, is there anyway i can break contract or be reduced? since i feel i was lied to about this when i was initially careful

Is that what they call "unlimited broadband "?!
    1 Tb a month ? With the Netflix&Amazon Prime 4k HDR 1Tb won't last long .
What about Vodafone , couldn't find their T&C regarding Fair Usage ?

all Eir Fibre FTTC and FTTH plans are strictly 1tb per month, despite the Eir website claiming 'unlimited' and with FTTH 'absolutely no usage limits'.

I questioned this recently and they were very direct in saying all packages have the 1tb per month 'fair usage policy' and charges apply for going over on all plans.

Eir's fibre network is great, but the 1tb per month allowance is annoying. Virgin Media and Sky here have absolutely no data restrictions and Eir's network can easily allow more than 1tb per month per customer. I may not use 1tb myself, but it's intimidating that it's there knowing that if I do have a heavy month, that I have to plan ahead so I don't go over. It's even more annoying that the fair usage policy is strictly enforced, despite being hidden very deep and wording to double down on the 'download as much as you like'.

Surprised someone hasn't gone down the route of false advertising or products/service being miss sold. Even contained within the T&C's, as mentioned above, BURIED, it's clearly misleading customers when they advertise it being unlimited listening to ads on TV or the radio or in papers.

Obviously if the 1TB cap was clearly visible people who could use Virgin, wouldn't go near Eir, so they are consciously burying it knowing they wouldn't be able to compete.

data caps in 2017 are laughable.

I even moved my mobile to Virgin as their data use is unlimited, and properly unlimited. While 1TB is properly comfortable under for generic households, plenty others it definitely is not. I know I'm an edge case that works from home every now and then and might be required to download a customer DB locally that might hit a few hundred gigs, but it just seems laughable to have those sort of caps, and charge the pricing they do.

Luckily the 1tb cap won't effect me too much as it's mainly me who uses all the data in the house, having said that I am still concerned about going over as I can't properly check what my usage is between the 25th of every month, I could end up going over while the 'monthly' totals on 'myeir' are in check with the FUP. If there was one other person in the house who has usage requirements similar to me, then I would definitely be in trouble.

Our complaints over the past 2 weeks has certainly got their attention now, what's to be done about it if anything remains to be seen. It wouldn't hurt them to at least provide an option for customers to have a bigger FUP but preferably an unlimited one which is actually unlimited.
