Im looking at a vintage tractor which is for sale at the moment. It doesn't come with a tax book.

If I bought it, how would I go about taxing it? There isn't even a number plate on it?

Are insurance companies insuring these old tractors for third party fire and theft?

My understanding is that if it was registered at any stage that they can trace the registration from the serial number..

If it has never actually ever been registered my understanding is they will issue a registration from the approx manufacture date to suit, I'm not definite on this but I think this is the case

I would suggest that you call into your local Motor Tax Office and ask them what the rules are.

I have found most of the staff in my local Motor Tax Office to be very helpful and willing to give good advice.
