Black Bean Ideas, anyone?

B00!

I have an overabundance of legumes, especially black beans and frankly, I have no idea how to use them. I tried adding them to a dish but they turned it an unappetising colour. How do you use black beans in your vegan meals? Do they make good patties? (this appeals to me).

I need to get more healthy foods in my diet, and vegetarianism is what I am naturally drawn to... But raw is all I know to do, so I am in need of some solid (hearty) food plans, so any ideas you have, I am open to... Ta!

They go really good in a chilli too- or burritos. Lots of Mexican dishes use them.

Dammit now I want a burrito.

I can't find much redeeming qualities in black beans, but I do love northern beans and pintos, have no idea why I am at a loss for what to do with these strange looking legumey things.
It's like black-eyed peas or worse, lentils are the playtypus' of the legume family - God made them, but he don't know why :rolleyes:

Cuban black bean soup. I had it before with rice. Was very nice.

Black bean burgers are delicious and I find them much more satisfying than the more common butterbean or chickpea based burgers.

I like to use black beans as little "meatballs" sometimes to make pasta dishes more interesting. Mixed with a bit of garlic and chilli and baked in the oven. Add some pasta and a tomato sauce and it's a nice meal.

Cuban black bean is delicious too, as mentioned.
