If I buy materials myself I pay 23% VAT.

If I go over and ask them to put them on the builder's account and I pay the builder later, do I pay 13.5% VAT on the materials or no VAT since he will not be charged the VAT ?

    e.g.
    - Materials cost €1,000 ex VAT
    - Charged to builder's account as €1,000 (no VAT).

Do I pay €1,000 or €1135 as I sourced the materials myself?

Sorry probably should have thought it through, obviously they pay VAT on the materials... just the 13.5% then.

Builder pays VAT on materials 23%, if Builder is VAT registered he will charge 13.5% VAT on top of your services. If you put materials true builders account he will pay 1000+23% VAT, builders don't get VAT discounts on materials.
