I'm looking for a board that is to be fixed to a external stud leaf. It needs to be plastered with standard sand and cement external plaster. I have heard of stuff called rock board, but i dont know if its the correct stuff.

Ps it for over a Lean-to on a garage.

There is a product called cement board

    eg

I would suggest you apply the recommended render, which will give you the same finished look as S&C

I have used it and its virtually impossible to tell the difference

I bought 3 sheets of cement board a few months back for a shower surround before tiling. Quite a big variation in price between the different builder providers here in Dublin but best I found was Brooks (have an outlet in Cork) with the 2.4mx1.2mx12mm sheets for €43 a piece. Chadwicks for comparison were €52 for same product. You can get them in 6mm thickness also but this would generally only be for subfloors.

What ever you do don't use plaster board screws to fix them as most builder providers will tell you to use. The cement will over the space of a few years eat away the plaster board screws. You can get specific cement board screws that have a tougher ruspert (ceramic) coating but of course they can't be got anywhere in Ireland. I eventually after much searching got high A4 grade stainless steel screws shipped from the UK as prices for similar here had the usual rip off republic margins.
