I think there is an issue with my car NCT tomorrow

    I haven't driven my car is 2 months since I was away in Australia its an old focus year 2000. It seemed fined when I drove to work this morning but I'm after driving it there this evening and as I was driving the car slowed down and the engine /emissions light and Automatic gearbox light came on. I booked the NCT last week for tomorrow and I'm not sure if there's any point going for it now. Any idea what the problem could be?

    You might as well go for it now as you'll be charged a cancellation fee as you didn't cancel within the required time

    Check the gearbox fluid level to see where it's at. Any sign of white or blue smoke coming from the exhaust, have you checked the engine oil level?

    If the oil was low wouldn't the red oil light come on

    No, unless it was way too low.
    Generally once red oil light comes on, it means engine is gone due to running out of oil.
    Light you are talking about is oil pressure light - and once it comes on, it means oil pressure is too low and damage to the engine is being caused already.
