First year Irish 2017 (new specification)

Hi all,

I'm wondering if any fellow Irish teachers have been able to locate the subject specification / syllabus / assessment criteria etc for the implementation of the new Irish course beginning for first years this coming September as part of the Junior Cycle reform? There is only one new textbook out (edco) directed towards the new course but we as a department cannot locate material to be leaning towards for first year next year. We have found out who will have First Year Irish next year and would like to sit as a department to devise a rough plan and scheme of work before beginning in September.

If anybody has any information, or links to where I could read / download this information.

Not an Irish teacher but that's terrible. A new specification for September and the department hadn't sent even a letter to say where you can find it. Surely they should be posting out any new literature.

T1 is for Gaeltacht schools and gaelscoileanna, T2 is for everyone else.

I wouldn't advise getting a new textbook for september 2017, the ones I've seen were written based on the draft spec, which had less emphasis on literature, and more on conversational Irish.

Educate.ie have a book out as well but I haven't seen a copy of it yet.
