Delta airlines queries

    Confusing one.
Made a booking months ago. Which had the, numerous, schedule changes, where the ticket was normally reissued. Eventually, on the primary leg the change was significant enough to complain about it.
They wrote my first leg from scratch again 1 connection instead 2 to LV.
Not done yet, they managed to cancel the first flight on my return leg, and never sent an email about either. They were quick enough to deal with on the phone. And have got me on a later flight back saved me a long connection.
For some reason the whole thing is being handled by airfrance from the very first scheduled change. Now when I want to check in I can't select my seats as I want me to do it through Delta.
But checking the booking with Delta is showing only the original flights, 5 for 6 of which are no longer schedule.

When I made my original booking I had provided all the necessary passenger info, and had seats reserved on all the flights. Is transatlantic flying normally like this.:eek:

Hey all just wondering has anyone much experience flying with delta..

Im travelling to canada soon via shannon > jfk>Calagry>Vancouver and im wondering whats there deal, with luggage are they like good old aer lingus where they let you throw on a 23 kg bag for free or do they charge you straight off the bat for all luggage ?

And if they do charge me will it be a once off charge like shannon to vancouver or will they charge me each connecting flight ?

I think Delta are very clear about their checked baggage on their website, did you check there?

Delta are not a low cost airline. The only charges are for US/Canada flights. You have the standard free 23kg allowance.

There is one charge if the flights are made in one booking, I'm not sure why you would think otherwise.

You pay online when you make the booking just like you do with Aer Lingus.

Just to be clear, you have the standard free 23kg allowance. When I mentioned luggage charges for US/Canada flights, this only to applies to short-haul flight bookings. You're flying long-haul from Europe so there are no luggage charges unless you want to bring extra bags.

If you booked a ticket from Shannon to Vancouver under the one itinerary then you will have an included baggage allowance and your checked luggage will be checked in all the was to Vancouver. If you are simply connecting flights then you won't see your bag between Shannon and Vancouver, if they are separate individual bookings then thing may be little different. e.g. if you booked the Shannon-JFK, and JFK-Vancouver separately then its two separate bookings and the same baggage allowance may not apply

Can you clarify things here? Can you tell us what route? What was the original route, and what has it been changed to ?

I had a similar issue before due to a cancelled flight (cancelled months in advance). Original reschedule didn't work for me but everything was sorted by phone.None of the connection flights got carried through to the website portal so I was worried it would all go wrong on the day, but had no issues flying.

Called a few times in the run up to be sure. No issues on the phone each time.
Traveled with a huge stack of paperwork - none of which was needed n the end. Smooth sailing.

And for what its worth, I ended up on an Aerlingus flight, operated by AirContractors, on an AirFrance ticket, issued by KLM phone operator, and I paid Delta.

Ahh ok i get what your saying now, i was planning on bringing a 32 kg bag, but seen as the 23kg is free ill try make use of that. if i was to bring a 2nd bag do i have to let them know before hand or can i just arrive that day and pay at the airport ?

Thanks again for the replies lads, much appreciated!

I'd imagine you'd be allowed 2 check in bags but your allowance will still be 23kg. So you'd have to divide the weight between the two cases if you know what I mean, otherwise you'd be into excess baggage charges. But you should I double check this with delta on their website, they should have baggage policy details

Thanks. Suspect it could be something as simple as AirFrance being the ground staff on the particle gate, in Dublin that I need to clear. A few phone calls later and I have seat confirmed for any of the seat with free reserved seating.
