Hi guys so I was cycling along a residential area and out of nowhere a car door swings open and I clatter it leaving a cut on my finger, kind of hole in my neck and a neck area and shoulder area I cannot move.

Got stitches in my neck and difene tablets for my shoulder area. X-rays showed up no damage but I cannot even get into bed without being in pain and need to be raised up with loads of pillows.

The guy made it clear he looked out at the mirrrorvandcsaw nothing so swig his door open. Relatives say that's bull**** but I don't know. All I did was cycle down a street and a split second before the accident s door swings open. I couldn't do anything about it.

What should I do? I'm too nice to try take action but after he left the hospital, my shoulder area really is screwef up with pain and not being able to move it. I couldn't even put a jacket on.

Just thought I'd gather some opinions other than relatives. Thanks for reading.

Have you contact details for the driver of the car?

My husband had a similar incident a couple of years ago. Driver left him lying in the road while he inspected the damage to his door! Husband got up and took photo of insurance disc in the car window and also of the car registration plate - much to the indignant annoyance of the driver

He was in pain for a few days but thankfully was ok. He did contact the local garda station to have the incident logged though. Might be worthwhile doing that?

An x-ray is only good at showing broken bones.

Whether he looked in the mirror or not would be irrelevant. He opened the door and you cycled into him. Unless he claims you deliberately swerved into his open door.

He brought me to the hospital and wrote his details down and insurance etc. He seemed very nervous when my family members arrived.

He never claimed I swerved into him. He just made it clear many times that he looked in the mirror. He said he's got sn insurance problem with a drink man rear ending him ongoing.

I took no action yet but my auntie wants me to go to her solicitor on Tuesday. Like it really liked just to put a t-shirt on. I've no idea of how long I'll be like this. I remember hurting my abklevst football before and that would come and go years later. My brother got a back injury at least 5 years ago and regularly comes home from work like an old man due to the original injury.

I've never had anything like this happen to me so I have no idea what to do. At the time I was so concerned for his door even though I was there with a hole in my neck and wondering if I had a broken collar bone or similar. All new to me.
