Ford Focus v Peugeot 308

Has anyone any advice on any of the above new cars?

More than likely I'll be going for the 1 litre focus or the 1.2 308 (both petrol). I don't do a large amount of miles so a petrol is probably more advisable for me.

Has anyone any advice on which is a better buy?

More than likely I'd like to keep it for 5 years and then sell it on.

Which would hold its value more?

I'm moving towards the Focus as it has a 7 year warranty. In regards to looks, I like the 2 of them equally.

    Cheers for you advice

The Focus is out ages at this stage. What about the Kia Ceed/Hyundai i30. They both have a 1.0 Turbo option and very good warranty too.

Hard to know re resale value. Focus usually tank value wise because there's always an endless supply of used ones available from the UK. In 5 years time, the Focus would be a 10 year old model and a new one will have replaced it. This will have an impact on values too.
With Brexit, it might affect the availability of cheap used uk cars.
The 307 and old 308 never held good second hand value, so it's hard to say which would be better. I couldn't see either being amazing, despite the new 308 being a much nicer car than the old one.

I'm scrapping a car and trading in my own car so it'll have to be somewhere that has a scrappage scheme.

    Cheers

There should be a whole raft of scrappage schemes coming for the 172 reg in July.

The car that I'm looking to scrap only has an NCT until May.

Would they take a car that's out of NCT?

They may not. The conditions vary across brands, but I think most look for it to be tested. Is the car hooped, do your I think you could get it through a test?
what car do you have now?
