    Hi folks

Appreciate advice here. My folks in law who live in monaghan have a standard saorview antenna and sony TV with built in saorview tuner.

Never had any issue until the last few weeks when they complained that rte one was disappearing and reappearing.

Got in tonight and it's gone. Went into setting and did an auto tune a few things and every single other channel expected is there - but no rte one. Scrolled right to the end of the channel guide to make sure it just hasn't moved. Nope. Nadal.

Anyone know what could be wrong?

Signal issue with Mux2, cause likely to be an aerial or cabling problem as the problem has been recurring over the last few weeks. Aerial out of alignment, bad connection(s), water ingress into cable are possible causes.

Check accessible connections to ensure they're properly made.

Just a thought that occurred to me, do you know which transmitter they are receiving Saorview from?

The reason I ask, the Monaghan transmitter transmits Mux2 on UHF Ch.59, which is very close in frequency terms to 4G LTE mobile frequencies and if there is a 4G mast nearby it could potentially cause interference to TV reception. An LTE filter would be required in this case, between aerial and TV receiver to block this interference.

That reminds me I need to empty the water out of the junction box on my aerial.

It is very common for people on this forum to report signal problems with one of the two Multiplexes used by Saorview. But the problem affects all the channels on the Multiplex. There are three other channels on Multiplex 2 along with RTE 1 HD. If they are present and RTE 1 is missing then it is a bit of a mystery. If all four are missing then it is an aerial problem.
