Budget is 10.5k and currently driving an avensis 1.6L 2005. I see a few beamers around the 2011 mark in my price range with 100000 miles. I do three hours spin one day a week for work so looking st Diesel.

Anything to look out for with these. Current car is running perfect so would really want nice interior and something classy.

The Accord is a fine car. I had a 09 exec diesel and loved it to drive. The engine is a bit long in the tooth and you'd do well to get 50mpg out of it. As you are probably aware Honda discontinued the Accord last year. I'm not sure what that has done for prices. They are a a nice drive and with top spec a nice place to be in. The exec comes with a sunroof which on earlier models were prone to rusting. The boot isn't huge on them either. The speakers tended to blow in the doors as well so audition if buying. I still think the shape looks quite good. There are a few type S around that were 170bhp. Never drove one but would try if going again. Some of the type s in Ireland are only 140bhp... No point in buying..

Would you consider a peugeot 508? , good value in them at the moment, fine car with the 2.0 hdi

    That one has nice spec

I'd look at the Volvo S60, they are reasonably priced especially in the UK and the 2.0 litre diesel D3 or D5 5 cylinder engines have bags of torque.

They still look well even though they came out in 2008. I've seen 2015 ones knocking around and they look good. It's a real pity the Accord was discontinued.

They were expensive compared to their European rivals due to being imported from Japan and sales had declined over the years as they became more outdated compared to their European rivals. People were also switching to SUV type vehicles instead with sales of traditional large mainstream saloons declining. The iDTEC engine wasn't Euro6 compliant either so they either had to invest in a replacement or discontinue it. The Toyota Avensis is heading the same way now. The current model launched back in 2009 is on it's third facelift now and sales across Europe are small even in Ireland where the Avensis was always loved.

They did have a euro 6 diesel in the crv that I've had love to have seen in the accord... I haven't driven the 9 speed crv auto but I'd say it's nice... Think it's 168bhp?

Wasn't that 1.6 which replaced the older 2.2? And the 1.6 diesel has now been dropped from the new Civic model here.

I think the 1.6 Diesel is due back in the new Civic later this or early next year

They are saying a revised version is due... Id say Honda are testing the waters with the petrol... Petrol is cheaper than diesel at the pumps in the UK so it's probably a lot less attractive to buyers to go diesel... Id say they will push the petrol, introduce a hybrid model and start the move to electric.. The small amount Honda sell in Ireland they probably wouldn't bother introducing a diesel... The current 1.6 diesel is hard to beat in terms of fuel economy... It's a nice powr engine as well at 126bhp... Id just fancy another 25bhp...i was very tempted to get my 1.6 remapped which pushed it to just under 150bhp but ended up trading instead for a different make..
