Events on the international programme for July 12th`s Morton Games have been confirmed. The feature event will once again be the Morton Mile which continues to provide more sub 4 minute miles than any race in Irish athletics. The 2016 Morton Mile set a new record of 11 sub 4 minute miles. It has been confirmed that a mile time of 3.53.40 is the qualifying time for the 1500 at IAAF world championship in London. The women`s programme will see the 1500 replace the mile this year, with an IAAF QT of 4.07.50. The Albie Thomas Memorial Race will be a 5000 rather than 3000.

One of the main feature events will be the men’s 400 where hopes are high that Ireland’s 4th place Olympian Thomas Barr will once again light up the Morton Stadium. Once again the pole vaulters will look to be in Stadium record form. The sprints, sponsored once again by Aon will be 100 men and 200 women

    Men`s events: 100, 400, 400h, 800, 5000, Morton Mile, pole vault

    Women`s events: 200, 800, 1500, discus

There will also be a full supporting programme of IMC 800 races including an IMC/BMC men and women`s 800 and IMC/BMC men`s 1500.

A long way out, I know, but this year they are putting on an offer where clubs can buy 20 tickets for the price of 10 (see attached). (Also, under 16s are free when accompanied.)

This is a great event, lots to watch, so get on to your clubs about getting a batch of tickets...

Bit stupid having it back on a Wednesday, especially after it doing so well on the Friday for the last few years (especially 2 years ago).

Haven't looked at the Diamond League schedule but that might have something to do with it. No way will Barr, English etc run Morton if they could be racing the likes of Clement and Rudisha the following evening. Least having it midweek prevents a clash with DL in London. It clashed last 2 years.

The leading Junior athletes will not be there either as will all hopefully be in Italy the following week for the Euro Juniors in Grosseto..

Sean Tobin becomes Ireland's latest sub 4 minute miler, running 3.58. Danny Mooney cruelly missing out running 4.00.12 and Kieran Kelly 4.00.5X.

Highlights for me, Brian Gregan winning the 400m in a PB of 45.26, and the 5,000m stadium record being broken, Stewart McSewyn running 13.19.

Decent if not wonderful crowds, and a pretty enjoyable evening all round. Some slow delays between some of the races, I thought there were maybe some timing issues?

agreed, great for Gregan to deliver a performance like that in front of the home crowd. And last lap by McSweyn was really something else. For me though the main highlight was watching Ronnie Delany and Eamon Coghlan chatting away to each other in the stand, Olympic champ and World Champ.... Crowd was decent and a lovely evening. Notably no media coverage of it that I can see. Bit disappointed that we have nobody competing in the distance races aside from Ciara Mageean.

By the look of it both the gun (or a cable) and the false start system both were giving trouble. Very frustrating for the athletes, officials and starting team, at this level you'd expect everything to be ironed out. But still, all around a very good night, great atmosphere, always seems to be near perfect weather at the Morton games.

Wasn't out there last night, but looked to be quite windy and cool from the stream and listening to the lads on commentary. Definitely not perfect for sprinting and 800m, which makes Gregan's run all the more impressive.

Watched it all on a Live Stream ...great action ...Gregan was a beast on the home straight. Some really good racing by some of the younger crew like Sarah Healy . Nice to see Phil Healy finally getting the better of Amy Foster over 200m .  Lovely to see Sophie O'Sullivan romp away in the 800M B...she looks like she might be one for the future and it is like looking at Sonia all those years ago winning the National CC whilst she was a schoolgirl.  Feidhlim was on the interviews after and it was gas when he asked her was her time a PB and she hadn't a clue...
The lads on commentary were very good as was Feidhlim...good to have someone who knows the questions to ask , knows all the facts ...makes such a difference to an interview

Wasn't really windy, I thought they were pretty good conditions.
