I'm currently doing a level 6 PLC course which i will probably fail at. As in, the projects are being too difficult and this course isn't really what i thought it would be. Next year i want to go into IT Tralee for a course that would suit me better, and in order to get there i will use my results from my last years PLC course (level 5) so i should get in there no problem.

But the question is, if i fail this year, will i be entitled to a grant next year? (Going into a level 8 course) Will i still get all the fees covered plus a monthly grant?

If you fail but you are still progressing, you may qualify for grant assistance based on meeting the none educational criteria. The failing of the level 6 will not affect your application for a level 8 as long as you are accepted into this course.

So even if i will fail level 6 course, i still will get the full grants as long as i'll get in level 8 course in IT Tralee? (Which is guaranteed to me based on my level 5 results, which i got in 2016)

But then i basically "wasted" this year, since i had the level 8 offer last year, how will susi react to that?

Your decisions to take on extra courses does not affect your application to SUSI. As long as you are progressing through education and not repeating or attending a course at a lower level or year a course you have already attended or qualified then you may be eligible as long as you meet the other criteria

Thanks alot for clarifying, this was actually causing me to lose sleep over night because i was afraid that i'll either have to pay susi back out of nowhere or wait 5 years.. thanks god this isn't the case

If you met the criteria for a level 6 PLC course and nothing has changed with the reckonable income of your household then I cannot see why you would not qualify for grant assistance if you have not attended an undergraduate course before.

I was just afraid that the whole failing of the level 6 course will make me untrustworthy in the eyes of SUSI if it comes to education, since they unfortunately (might have) wasted money on me

There has been a lot more money wasted than that.

You're thoughts are very good and noble but SUSI cannot make their decisions based on every person, They are prescribed in law.
