Can the Sisters of Charity sell the new National Maternity Hospital

Can someone explain how much of the hospital the sisters will own and what structure they will use. I do not understand where the 300 million figure is coming from. If we look at any of the governments recent projects they have all overrun the initial cost estimates.

They'll own the lightbulbs and soft furnishings

No they can't, there will be a lien on the site that it can only be used as a maternity hospital with governance by the state, they also won't be able to borrow against it.

The simple fact is that the church owns lots of property being used by the state across Ireland, which means scenarios like this will come up again and again with hospitals, elderly homes, schools, sports facilities.

As part of the redress scheme for the sexual abuse they carried out, should have included them selling all their properties to the state to finance the payments, but the government of the day bottled it.

What is great is the public reaction that they absolutely do not want the church involved in state functions going forward.
