    Hi, I'm thinking about either a 2007 or 2008 320 coupe petrol.

Just wondering if the petrol ones also have problems with the timing chains like the diesels do? Anything else i should be looking out for? Would they generally be considered reliable?!

    Thanks

Timing chains can get rattly on them but not to the same extent as the diesels. Biggest problem with the ones with Efficientdynamics (stop/start) is injectors give lots of trouble as do the cylinder coil packs. Better off with one of the pre stop/start models sold upto early 2007.

Thanks! Any easy way to tell (without driving the car) from an ad that it doesn't have start/stop? It's mainly 2007's I'm looking at

The 320i with ED would have 177bhp afaik, the older non ED ones were 163bhp to my knowledge. There is also a button on the dashboard below the cd player for disabling the stop/start.
