Gluten Free Soda Bread?

    Hi folks,

I'm visiting a friend in Belgium next week and as usual I've to bring over an assortment of goodies from home.

My friend thinks she heard an advertisement for a new gluten free soda bread from one of the main manufacturers like Brennan's or McCambridges and has asked me to get it if possible.

Has anyone heard of this or anything similar and if so, has anyone see it in any particular supermarket chain?

Thanks in advance of any help or recommendations.

Definitely McCambridges, heard the ad on the radio yesterday, don't know where it is stocked though, probably the big supermarkets or have a look at their website maybe.

Yes, McCambridge, Dunnes definitely stocks it, got it the last couple of weeks, wife is coeliac, tried it myself, it's really nice, don't pick it up until just before traveling, check the best before date

Thanks for the heads up, am well used to picking up the fry and batch bread on the morning I travel :)

Just for clarification, is the bread you're referring to McCambridges Spelt variety or is there a newer gluten free product ?

Think it's a new product, here's the ingredients John McCambridge gluten free soda bread
Buttermilk 40%, gluten free oatmeal, pea flour, gluten free oatflakes, cider vinegar, raising agent, sodium bicarbonate, coconut sugar, salt, rice flour

it's clearly marked Gluten Free. It freezes well but I found an open pack goes a little "off" after a few days. Toasts well too!

I don't think our local Dunnes has it :( I've only seen the Spelt one, so I'll check the one on Stephen's Green.

    Thanks for the replies

I find all GF breads/bakes go stale very quickly so I store mine in the fridge, or slice and freeze in small batches. Most are very expensive but Aldi / Lidl have been a boon to me as I hate paying over the odds for GF bread.

It's sometimes with the GF products, sometimes with the main McCambridges bread and sometimes on it's own promotional stand! Don't give up!
