Does anyone know what's going on there. They seem to be clearing all the land as far down as the canal

Looks like it in the form of FW15A/0103: http://planning.fingalcoco.ie/swiftlg/apas/run/WPHAPPDETAIL.DisplayURL?theApnID=FW15A/0103

Here's a link to the granted application http://planning.fingalcoco.ie/swiftlg/apas/run/WPHAPPDETAIL.DisplayURL?theApnID=FW15A/0103

But that expires after a while so the Planning Ref is FW15A/0103

    Full Development Description
The development will consist of a total of 33 no. residential units comprising of 17 no. two storey, 3 bed dwellings (14 no. semi-detached units and 3 no. terraced units), and 16 no. apartments (6 no. 3 beds; 10 no. 2 beds) in 2 no. blocks (two to three storeys in height), all with associated car parking and bin storage. Planning Permission is also sought for 1 no. new vehicular and pedestrian access onto Weaver's Walk, upgrades to existing pedestrian access onto the Royal Canal, landscaping, boundary treatments and all associated works necessary to facilitate the development.

    Edit: Too slow :D

Well that site plan has changed quite a bit since the original application. I wonder what the 2/3/4 bed houses will fetch for? Surely they will fetch a premium due to their backing onto the canal amenities and closeness to the train station?

Although it can be a bit of a bottle neck around there on the Clonsilla Road during peak hours but could make a nice little development.

Interesting development it seems. Looks like a nice location and especially with access to the canal path it seems good.

Anyone else hear them doing something on the site at 5.30 this morning??!

That would usually be in-violation of planning guide lines, check it and if so report it

I think it's only the apartments that front onto the canal. Looks like a nice development, if I move back to the area(I was raised not far from here) I wouldn't mind buying a 2 bed apartment there if I decide to give up on living in the city and renting. Good transport to the city with the train station and bus routes, and good cycling access to the centre or other shops and things with proximity to the Ongar road(I wouldn't own a car). Canal access is nice. Definitely intrigued, will keep an eye on this development.

Does anyone know what the story is with this development? Houses appear to be built or close to it, but there's no signs outside and no information online apart from the planning..

    Social housing perhaps?

Spot on, live in Lambourn and got a letter about it maybe 2 months ago. The residents association aren't happy with it or the application in for a takeaway beside the garage.

    Any more details?
    Can you upload the letter.
Thought there were never going to be any more social housing projects. Mixed only.

The houses built in Blakestown beside the bridge were all sold to Fingal.

No I don't have the letter, it was with one about a RA meeting happening in The Clonsilla Inn a few weeks ago. I must have thrown it out. If anything else comes in I'll post it.

Was out for a stroll along the canal today between Clonsilla and Porterstown for the first time in a while and noticed the apartments are to have access onto the canal path. See picture.

So was the whole development bought by the council, none are for sale?

Went for a jog by there yesterday and noticed it too.
There was no fence up blocking the way in.

We were told that some co-op is taking them with some units going to social housing. No idea what the name of the Co-op is though

    Are they currently lived in?

I find it strange the lack of information available about a complete housing development in such a high demand area.

The new 4 and 5 storey apartments built just off the Allendale roundabout at Ongar were the same. They were given over to social housing and not for sale to the general market.

    Nope, all are vacant.

Considering a semi-detached in Lambourn. Area looks very impressive and quiet. The house is just beside the new housing development so worried that the social housing could be a showstopper for us. Are people happy in this area and are there any concerns. Feedback from local residents would be very valuable.

I wonder what the delay is here, it was 7 months since I posted that pic from the canalside, this was a few days ago. The apartments look really nice, you’d be very lucky to get your hands on one.

A lot of apartments in Ireland look great on the outside, and yet have basic plumbing and fixture shoddiness on the inside. It's amazing how often it's new apartments and businesses which suffer storm damage when we get hit with big storms. But aye, they *look* nice at least :o

Found this on another website - the site is both the Apartments in the front with the big windows over the canal - plus the new houses in the background...

The ones facing the canal especially look very nice.

Wow, I didn't realise there were houses as well as the apartments.   They look really well when looking at them from the canal path and I love the access point they have to the canal.  Here's hoping they do the same up near Hansfield station with access to the canal when the apartments to go up next to the station.  It will open up this lovely amenity to all of Hansfield and Ongar via a short walk. . When you walk west along the canal from Hansfield, you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside miles from urban area!

What should really happen is that pedestrian & bicycle access should open up between Lambourn and this new development, giving the Lambourn residents easier access to the canal, the garage, the train station, and the Clonsilla Link Road. Can't see it happening though. People are very protective of their cul-de-sac status.

    A real pity.

Weaver's walk was such a nice road, always reminded me of a quaint and tranquil suburban road you would see in an American movie with the Large trees on one side.

It has been completely spoiled by this horrendous "social housing" project with an access road right behind their back gardens

I find it quite upsetting that you think the fact that its social housing, you automatically assume its a horrendous situation..!!

Not sure who you are directing that comment at but it has been mentioned a few times that it is social housing. The complete lack of any information about this estate is also lending credence to it being a social housing development. Can you show us anywhere where they are being offered for sale to the public??

Anyway, irrespective of it being a social development or not, my point still stands that one of the nicests roads in the area (Weavers Walk) has been completely ruined by this development.

It's horrendous for potential home-buyers that there's whole estates being built solely for social housing...

Lol, I only had it up all of 5 minutes. Yeah, I deleted as I felt it perhaps was a bit too provocative and maybe borne out of a little resentment if I'm being honest which is never a good motivation for making objective statements!

On one hand, I don't want to see anyone homeless and this development addresses that in a small way so I can't knock that. I felt on reflection, that that is more important than, regardless of me as a taxpayer ultimately funding same properties and complaining that I couldn't afford the same myself, came across mean spirited and resentful as I read it back.

I may not have an A-rated energy home, 3 bedrooms or 2 parking spaces but my home is and always will be mine as long as I keep up my mortgage repayments! There, but grace of God etc etc

Not quite the back of Clonsilla petrol station but immediately to the east. the owners of the Applegreen station have been granted permission by An Bord Pleanala to build 3 storey apartments and a restaurant. The Lambourn Residents Association had appealed Fingal's decision to grant it but have been unsuccessful in their appeal. Details in link below.

I wonder is there actually a need for another restaurant in the immediate vicinity? Romayo's has the chipper demand sewn up and there are plenty of Asian options nearby as well as the local pub. The Italian shut down.
