Thinking of buying one of these year 2002.Ive heard all the horror stories about the 3.0 L engine.Recall work done on this one, supposedly giving no trouble.Would I be mad to go from a Toyota landcruiser to one of these?resonably priced.

Have one here on its 3rd engine. If you dip the oil in the engine at least once a week you'll avoid any problems. The injectors are the weak spot and if they go in the open position the diesel drops into the oil, over a few weeks the oil becomes more diluted and it is then burned in the engine causing it to blow. Service the engine with the correct oil and filters. Most fellas were taking short cuts there and that was the cause of all the trouble. Their lighter on diesel than a land cruiser and their a fair machine to pull and take abuse.

As david said there a great engine provided the correct oils were used we have a 2004 3.0 trooper here with 190000 miles never missed a beat regularly serviced with the right oil

Have a 03 Lwb here past 12 yrs. Aprox 140k miles on it. Although they hadn't failed, we got the injector job done under Isuzu warranty. Apart from the odd bushing from time to time, has been bulletproof.

Comfortable to drive and a savage to pull once engine has warmed up. Body is good quality, no rust. If you can pick up one with the injector issue solved, i wouldn't be afraid of it
