Prius 2011/2012 - not a clue where to start

    Howdy
Herself is in the market for a newer machine and it's boiled down to the Prius. Budget, 11k is pushing it. Current car not worth anything for trade in.
Need an auto, need a small tax petrol, need isofix, need a decent boot

So I've been looking across the water expecting a bit of value considering lower VRT rates but there isn't much screaming at me as value compared to whats available here.

Any advice re sourcing a decent example or anything else I should look our for?

    Cheers

I've been considering the same, and from what I can see I have to agree there's not much difference in price between here and importing, maybe €500 or so after you allow for transport etc. I have noticed that a lot of the Prius' on sale here are already imported from the UK or Japan, lots with reg plates 11 D 12*** and so on. I've no problem with this for UK imports (rust aside, but not a huge problem I believe) but the Japanese imports can prove more difficult to insure, or so I'm told. I'm happy to be corrected on this as it would make my life easier too!

No idea where you're based but this place in Rush seems to have a lot of stock:

Does liberty insure for new business? Most no longer take on jap imports on a new insurance policy. Renewals on existing polices are unaffected, hence why current jap imports here can still be insured going forward.

Reason I say, I've ran liberty for a different jap import & was told they won't cover jap imports for new business.

I'd avoid the Japanese import models, any I have seen for sale have had the centre console where the radio was butchered with some aftermarket setup, examples...
