Of course you can...just don't tell them what you are sending. Pack it up well and send it registered with tracking number and make sure you but a value on it..I have sent cameras and phones to uk no problem I have also received both from uk...

The thing there Harr, declaring a value shouldn't you say it's a phone?

You can also try posting using ParcelMotel could be cheaper.

I posted a phone a few weeks back to Spain, I was never asked what was inside, so maybe try another post office, make sure you include a return address in case they check and need to send back.

Yes you should as otherwise the insurance won't cover. Try some courier companies, but it's going to be more expensive.

Lithium ion batteries are banned from air transportation unless you can jump through more hoops than its worth for an individual.

To be honest they have never asked me..they just asked if package had a value and how much...same way as address pal say they won't post anything with batteries or liquid but I never have had a problem.
I honestly don't see the reason they exclude products with batteries...you could price a courier I suppose..

How come I can get stuff containing batteries (cameras mostly) but some times phone from overseas if lithium batteries are excluded from air travel?

They are not excluded, they just need to be marked properly.

As a country we must import thousands of products each day with batteries? Surely if they deemed them that unstable we wouldn't be allowed travel with our phones ?

If it starts smouldering while you're watching YouTube, you'll probably realise. In a cargo plane with a million other small packets, maybe not.

What happens if something with a lithium battery is in my hold luggage?

Bugger all. The issue arises when its a shipping pallet that may have a bunch of them in close proximity. They set each other off and the resultant fire is ridiculously hot.

They just need to be properly tested and packed, and the parcels marked.

You can't expect an Joe Average all do that...

Because they have gone through the process to allow air transport, for an individual its not economical.

Dont send with Parcel Motel, its totally uninsured after its handed over in Antrim.

Send with AP and misdeclare, or use a courier.

The reason you can receive batteries fine with AP is they're not the ones putting it on the plane so aren't responsible.
