A couple of years back I did a trip on the river Barrow Athy down to Greg. where we (me and son) hired a canoe and gear and could leave it at the end point and it was great fun, camped along the way. Itching to do something similar. Anywhere else in Ireland North or South has similar stretches?

The Barrow is pretty unique in the quality of the river and how good it is. There are a number of 'Blueway' trials on the Shannon but the Barrow is better by some distance.

The barrow is perfect for beginners , I did find that picking camping spots wasn't great , lots of high banks but overall great and easy to get supplies along the way

googling around there seems to be a selection of 2 day ones so might look into those
