Pet Passport & current travel regulations to UK

    Hi

Wondering is there anyone on here who absolutely can clarify the regulations around travelling with a dog to the UK where you ALREADY have a valid passport and all rabies vaccinations & yearly vaccinations are up to date.

In all the documentation I've read
    https://www.agriculture.gov.ie/pets/getapetpassport/
    https://www.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad/overview

it only mentions the 24hr to 5 days rule in relation to getting the tapeworm treatment. However, tapeworm treatment is not required for travelling to the UK from Ireland and vice versa.

So, there appears to be confusion around the dog having a checkup between 24hrs and 5 days of travel but this is not independently mentioned anywhere in anything I've read on the government sites. Is it actually a requirement pre-travel to the UK?

    Thanks

    Anyone any recent experience?

You just need the passport with up to date rabies vaccination. They have checked my dogs and look at the rabies date. The health check between 1 and 5 days is for commercial movement of dogs and cats. And worming isn't required between the two jurisdictions.

Came back to Ireland at Xmas, all stamps on that passport were up to date.
I was never asked to show it at either port though - I'm not advocating you skip them, I'd just heard so much about it!

I travel back and forth a bit with my dogs and know plenty of other people who do also. So long as the passport, microchip and rabies are up to date that is all that is required. I do know some people who have been stopped and checked. There is no requirement for yearly vaccines just the rabies. There is also no requirement for vet checks or tapeworm treatment between UK and Ireland
