    Just read this:
    http://www.rte.ie/news/courts/2017/0424/869810-paul-murphy-court/

I think it's absolutely nuts that they are going ahead with this.
Talk about adding fuel to the fire.

    IMO It's hardly false imprisonment.
Jesus she was in a new S Class Merc, with barriers between her and the protesters.

It was an inconvenience for her and nothing else.
People have a right to protest. And when politicians do a shi**ty job they may expect to be "inconvenienced" by the people that voted for them!

    That's why they're swearing in a jury!!!

By the way, there has already been a conviction for false imprisonment, so the fact that false imprisonment took place is a matter of fact, not opinion.
The only question is if the current crop of defendants are guilty.

Would a poll on the verdict be deemed prejudicial to the trial ??

It looked like it got a bit more hectic than a protest tbh.

I'd say Murphy would nearly rather be found guilty and go down as a martyr.

A martyr to whom? I dunno.

I think what happened to Joan Burton was nasty but this trial will only serve to alienate deprived communities from the political establishment even further.

    Own goal for our politicos.

The law is the law. Whether you're deprived or not.
