Mac keeps shutting down

    Totally random timings. Can be up for days - 3.5 is the current longest or go down several times a day (currently down for the fourth time today.

    I usually have to physically switch off or unplug from the wall socket it's in for minimum of 30 mins before it'll come back on. If left plugged in & switched on at the wall it won't restart.

    Starting to become a real inconvenience. Is there anything I can run on it to log what's going on or test it in some way?

    Failing cap/mosfet on the motherboard, ahem logic board, I've got a board with similar behaviour.

    May eventually fail, may not, repair will be expensive if economical at all.
