I'm still getting no upload capability this morning. Its being going on for a few days now. I restarted the router and have tried several devices. There must be something wrong with the line ? I think the road is being dug up around the Monaghan post office which is only a street away from me.

Login to your modem and find the line stats, post them here.

But yes, you should be seeing 20Mb up.

where do i find the line stats?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 335 ✭✭Redderneck

Sorry to hijack, but seeing same scenario here in North Tipp area. Download fine, ranging from 35-44 MB but upload 0.04-0.23 Mb; these numbers being seen since approx midnight last night. I began running the speedtests after family began complaining that browsing web had become VERY slow over previous 24 hours.

Rebooting router no impact. Resetting to default no impact.

I got in touch with Vodafone, they said that there was nothing wrong with the line or the modem. The first thing they did was drop my speed by 10Mbs - said it was too fast, upload dropped to Zero

    Great solution so far.

Maybe try the Vodafone forum and see what they say, unusual that you are all having issues together:

At an access level both of you are perfect but tests even to vodafones own test nodes are slow its internal to them. Possibly a regional POP having issues in one direction.

Their NOC is office hours so lets hope its fixed in the next 25 mins.

I phoned Vodafone at 3pm and they said they should get back to me in 3 hours once they investigate but it could be tomorrow:(.

If i could upload the screenshot of my speedtest it would say:

    UPLOAD TEST ERROR

A socket error occurred during the Upload test. Please try again later.

There was a similar episode a number of weeks back reported on here as well, originally it was thought perhaps an incompatibility with vectoring as OpenEir flipped a load of cabs onto vectored mode over the Christmas/NY period, can't remember what the resolution was though?

Interestingly I just checked a few business connections spread across the country that I can see, all flying away in both directions all day. So whatever the issue is, it doesn't seem to be impacting business lines at all...

Same problem all day with me here in Limerick. Judging by other posts here, it is not a local issue.

    Can't upload with dropbox.

speedtest.net reports very slow uploads earlier (0.1Mbps, I think), but now it cant run the upload test...

    "UPLOAD TEST ERROR

A socket error occurred during the Upload test. Please try again later."

+1, no upload, based in Limerick.

Rang vodafone. Same result as previous posters. They cut my download speed slightly, hoping that moving me to a different "profile" might help. It didn't. They're sending an engineer to check for issues with the line.

Seems unlikely it's an issue with my line considering other users / locations. Engineer visit may be a stalling tactic, rather than telling me the guy who normally fixes that is on leave this week, or some other unglamorous practicality.

Just rang 1907, CS guy there acknowledged that Vodafone have a known issue and that the senior team are working on it, hopefully normal service will resume shortly.

Down in Shannon too. And becoming an issue lately. Years with no issues now frequent little faults.

I've had terrible upload speeds since Friday from zero to 0.07Mbits slow. The speedtest.net site fails similar to what other people mentioned too.

I posted a message on Twitter yesterday and was asked to contact 1907 but not mention at the time that this was a wider problem.
I went through the troubleshooting with the agent who was very helpful but again no mention of a greater problem at play.

The end result of my support call is that Vodafone are sending me out a new modem. Doesn't seem likely to be the cause now? and this is going to take another 3 days.

I should mention also that the download speed is about what it is always been, just the upload that is messed up.

    I'm in Kildare area.

From having a trickle of upload speed yesterday to none today; using screentest now gives me same 'socket error on upload test, try again later' message others have seen. As mentioned by tv221, from faultless for a few years and delighted with service to recent niggle after niggle. They'd better sort it quickly.

Feels very much like they're inventing reasons for people to wait a few days, rather than just saying they don't know how long it will take (which I would accept). Either that or the support team haven't been told there's an issue. Neither is what I want from my ISP.

I work from home, and can't afford much downtime. I pay extra to avoid entering a new contract, so I can switch providers if I see fit. Hoping it won't come to that.

FYI, a few months back I had a different issue which Vodafone couldn't resolve remotely and they sent me out a new router. In the time it took for the router to arrive, the connectivity issue resolved itself so I never deployed the new router. Better to leave well enough alone was my reasoning. I just connected it up now and can confirm that for me, the new router has NOT resolved the upload connectivity issue.

Rang 1907 and the best they can do for me is book a technical call which could take 3-5 working days. The new router goes from showing all green lights, connectivity no problem, yet me being unable to access the web on my PC; to internet light red on router yet me managing staggering slow web access; to all green and normal download speeds but little to no upload - it really is all over the gaff. Frustrating beyond belief.

Completely gone for me here in Limerick - had the upload problem yesterday and this morning but now the download has gone too. Tethered my phone to desktop now so I can get some work done (my mobile connection is at least twice as fast as my fibre broadband on a good day ). Frustrating to say the least.

I've also bridged my vodafone router so not looking forward to disconnecting that if I need an engineer call out...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 stellarjets

Same story here. No connectivity up or down.

Received a text earlier saying 'service issue has been cleared' and 'reply NO' if not. I replied "NO". Presume that was the engineer they sent out verifying that he had indeed visited, and found no issue.

Shortly after that, like the others posters, I lost all connectivity (currently tethering on Tesco Mobile).

Would be nice to hear something from a Vodafone rep here.

Bad form. It's been unusable for 2 days now. Seems the whole country is affected. Lad this morning said they were inundated with calls, and their twitter seems to be getting hammered.

2 days, in this day and age, dire. Will really have to consider another provider.

Sorted, upload and download seem reasonable testing with my phone.

Someone in Vodafone working late. Fair play to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 335 ✭✭Redderneck

Yup. Back online and seems solid.

The problem was logged over 30 hours ago....far from fair play!!

    But yep it's back, hallelujah!

Well somebody at vodafone did their job yesterday. Not much media attention was there. Great when your PR department can use all the advertising muscle too keep things quiet. 3 got away with a similar thing for years, but hey you put a nail in your own coffins yesterday. You honestly think people believe you had no idea anything was happening and fobbed people off until late in the evening.
