Hi I'm just wondering about wild camping on Lough Ree. Does anyone know if it's allowed? Was thinking about Inchmore. Obviously I would be cleaning up after myself. Will want to have a small BBQ also. Any help or info would be great

Inchmore or inchturk which is beside it or inchboffin is slightly to the north the only thing is there are cattle on all these islands so you might want to ask farmers permission first there are also a few smaller islands you can camp on but some of these are quite stony so you might have to search for a suitable spot on these

I didn't see any cattle on Inchmore but there are horses which run through the woods so be warned.

keep an eye out for rats also , islands are infested with them.
    Dont leave rubbish around.

The rats on the island aren't as shy as the ones on the mainland either for some reason

Does anyone know if it's allowed?

I didn't see any 'no trespassing' signs like there are on Hare Island.

The only house on the island belongs to an American who comes over yearly I heard

I've camped on hare many times over the years without issue.
Just don't make a nuisance of yourselves and you'll be fine.
