Studying DCG?

How does one study DCG effectively? I have the book "Graphics in Design & Communication" but sometimes I don't properly understand the tutorials given in the book. Sometimes there are steps that are completed without anything being said about them.

I'd just like to know if there are any useful websites or textbooks or even methods. I'm currently just trying to practise using the book's questions.

    Thanks

PJ McTavish on youtube is excellent and he explains the reason behind every step. There are loads of youtube demonstrations of the exam papers that are really helpful, since you can pause and rewind umpteen times until you understand something.

I have that book too and I think it's quite poor really.
