Hi, as title suggests I parked the car for half an hour and when I got back it wouldn't start . A man helped with jump leads but it still wouldn't start. It's making a ticking sound when I turn the key but won't start. Any ideas on what to try next

If it's making a clicking noise it still sounds like a battery issue. Make sure the jump leads are connected well and are of a good quality. I've seen plenty of cheapo sets of jump leads fail to start a car before.

    Does sound like the battery.
When was it last changed or charged?

That happened mine before battery issue needed a new battery. I have road side assist they came along very powerful charger and started it up. I drove straight to the garage and got a new battery. No issues since.

Meant to say normal jump leads wouldn't start it the battery was so bad.

Did you drop or possibly damage keys at any point in that half hour?

Thanks for the replies. I got a neighbour to come with me to try as he has powerful jump leads.. it started first thing ... but I now have an orange engine light on my dash board ! Should I be worried as it's driving fine. I probably need a new battery though just to be 100%. Thanks again

Hopefully it's not a bad alternator draining your battery.

Replace your battery. If it let you down once it'll let you down again, possibly somewhere without the ability to jump it.
