Solar PV Panels in Apartments

    Hi all,
Not exactly sure this is meant to be posted here, if it isn't, can someone move it?

Can anyone tell me what the legal situation is in regards to putting PV panels on the roof or apartments.

The apartment consists of a single floor apartment on the floor and a two floor apartment above it, i.e) I live on the ground floor and you could live above me over two floors. There is no central access to the roof and it is an angled roof. In a nutshell the apartment above me would have sole access to the attic space.

If I want to install pv panels, can I put them on my neighbors roof and place the invertor in their attic or is there a legal requirement against that?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Not sure about the position and construction side of the things....

Ive been in simillar position few months ago...i decided to compromise and allow full ownership to myself, over to my own panels and cabling.
Most Q & As were like the insurance claims from them, ownership troubles and so on.

    Have fun...

I'm no legal eagle, but it strikes me that you could do a deal with the current owner, but you would not have access to your inverter or cables if the ownership changed.

I also imagine that the roof itself is commonly owned by all of the owners, so you may have issues there. If I was a neighbour, I might object to you lifting tiles and putting in roof hooks.

If you have a south facing wall, would you think of using them as shades over windows?
