Watched this the other night. Actually really enjoyed it, it's unapologetically ripping off all the biggest 80s sci-fi horror flicks; gory, fast paced, atmospheric, tense, technically really well shot and it's a hell of a lot of fun.

Story is weak, characters are so-so but the acting fits the bill and really they are just there serve a purpose: to allow absolute violence to ensue. I found myself grinning from ear to ear throughout the whole movie, not because of the level of gore (let's face it, we've seen EVERYTHING on the screen now, nothing surprises) but at how they use the gore, it's almost satirical and you find yourself going 'Ewwghh!' in disgust whilst chuckling to yourself at times.

The monsters are very reminiscent of the 80s Thing, but with modern cinema breathing new life into them you find yourself squirming in your seat a bit as they feel ever more real.

The movie wraps up pretty quickly, so unlike some horror genre movies it has a nice quick flow to it and you almost feel wanting more at the end, but the motives of the characters and unoriginal story are probably best left unnoticed behind the frantic, crazy, gory pace of the movie.

Defo worth a watch, especially if you're a fan of sci-fi horror.

See this in Space because no one will here you scream "why did I waste my time watching this".

Saw it earlier today, imagine a lego box full of horror movie cliches bricks and it doesn't matter how you put it together because the end result will always be the same.
Now think about the editing room floor for The thing and Hellraiser, plus a few other 80's horror movies after the extras for the blu ray special editions were rescued off it and the zombified remains are what was used to make this movie.
Nothing made sense (and not in a good way) it wasn't even bad in a so bad it's good kind of way, the ending was..well..I reckon there's a couple of minutes missing.

    It was good, not great.

I wouldn't have been surprised if someone told me it was a sequel to From Beyond or in the same universe as Lord of Illusions.

Have to commend the use of practical effects, even if the camera angles were obviously obscuring the mechanism.

Personally, I felt it should have finished
just as he jumped through the 'gate'. I thought the sketchy green screen that followed didn't really do it justice.

I had hoped to see this at the cinema with some friends but, despite having a trailer, it seems to have gotten only the briefest of releases (I see that Tesco already have the DVD for £7, which doesn't bode too well). I'd hoped for better word of mouth on this, partly due to a good trailer and partly down to the guys behind it having previously made Father's Day, a truly ridiculous horror-comedy B-movie that managed some sort of inventive swerve or unexpected gag every time the (very silly, cliché-riddled) plot seemed about to run out of steam...
