New combi boilder causing hot water shower problems

We have just had a new combi boiler installed which does our central heating and hot water so we now get mains pressure instant hot water. This is great but the problem is that for the shower the cold water comes from the tank in the attic which does not have the same pressure so when we turn the cold water the pressure in the shower drops as the pressure from the mains hot water is pushing into the cold system and all we get out the tap is hot water.

The shower is coming from a bath tap shower combi tap:

Any suggestions now how we might solve this so we can use the shower?

Yes, what you can do is get your installer back. It's up to the installer to tell you whether your existing system was suitable or not. It obviously wasn't. Your cold water needs to be pressurised too. This will be fine is you live in an apartment with fantastic mains pressure, 1 bathroom and no limescale in the water. If you've a lot more hot draw off points then the combi isn't suitable

    Another Combi incorrectly installed

He should have taken both hot and cold from the same source for equalised pressure.
Common method would be to utilize the cold water tank draw water via a pump and then send water to both cold water services and the combi for hot water, giving more or less equal pressure.
