Clutch replacement

    Hello all,
Just doing a clutch at the minute but when I was putting the gearbox in it was hard to get in, doing it on the ground it was awkward and difficult but I ended up getting it in,
Now when I had it in it wasn't in all the way as it wasn't flush against the engine but it wouldn't push in more,
I pulled it in with the bolts, none of them were hard to turn as if there was strain on them but it pulled the box in flush anyway,
Just wondering should it be ok? Or should I take the box out?
The first time I had the box out it was tight to come out I had to pry it out

Did you check the spigot bearing? Also did you try the friction plate on the splines of the gearbox shaft? They would be the main places to give resistance that's assuming a location dowel wasn't damaged.

Yeah they were good, just not sure wether to chance it or take the box out again, it's a hassle on the ground on your own don't really want to take it out again, not sure what to do

From your description you are ok, did you just eye up the clutch disc to centre it?

Eyed it up, first time I knew I was slightly off so took the box back off and made an adjustment and then got the box in but had to pull it in by the bolts

Most of the time you need to use the bolts to pull it in. And you said there wasn't much resistance which is good too.
The box won't sit flush with the engine if the clutch isn't aligned correctly so it's sounds like your good to go.

Once i had similar situation, there was half inch gap between box and engine, wouldnt get in completly, i just turned crancshaft from timing belt side, and box just clicked in, and mowed freely in.
