If you are doing little to no road work I would chance on. If doing a lot I would bite the bullet.

If you're driving on the road they would be dodgy but off road keep using them until you have to change them.

There's more than 25% grip on them.

Fitted a full set of Kleibers last year, 16.9/34 and 13.6/24 €2700 inc and I got a rebate of €260 from Michelin for buying 4 tyres.

I think the fronts were about €425 each, so rears were about a grand each. They were not that much dearer than agrimax, but they are made by Michelin.

I see local contractor with new trellburg tyres on a tractor ,seem to be good tyres not overpriced .The problem buying new tyres for a 390 is that they will perish before they get worn .Goodyear and firestone were always a tyre that seemed to last without perishing .I got 2 20% firestone off hanlons for a yard tractor for 250 each if that is any help to you

got a quote up the North for 1250 sterling, plus vat for 2 new back (16.9R34) and 2 new front tyres (13.6R24)

Is this good value, are tyres cheaper in the north

    What make? Linglong?
Are you getting Radial's at that price?

Have to get a set of 16.9 R34s myself!

We should set up a purchasing group!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,362 ✭✭✭Tomjim

not sure of the brand think he said it was beginning with C, he said they were linked to Michelin, of course he would say that

Is there anything wrong with the cheaper brand of tyre, I don't have a lot of work with them anyway, very little road work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,264 ✭✭✭✭Nekarsulm

Depends on make, that's about 1800 euro for the four which looks cheap. Probably Chinese.
    Or how about this set?

If they're kleber for that money it's great value.
Possibly kormoran, bkt are usually around the 2k.
Will be after a set myself next year I'm thinking

If ye have soft ground, and who hasn't these days, I'd be pricing 480/70s as well. That extra bit of width makes a difference

They on the class tractors I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,362 ✭✭✭Tomjim

Is it worth my while going to the north, 1200 euro here fitted for the 2 back tyres only, to me the 1250 sterling is good value. Any other views on whether this is value in the north?

in general are tyres cheaper in the north then the south

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 112 ✭✭Wes Palmer Lee

Have Cultors on one tractor... no problems so far so good. Made in serbia so not chinese rubbish.
Slightly cheaper than BKT which are fine also.

TIP: Don't wait until your tyres are worn out. Once they hit 25-35% change them and sell the secondhands. No risk of perishing and you'll get a decent twist for the old ones!!

I'm trying to figure out what tyres to get. I'm looking at BKTs,Petlas and Taurus brands.
Do all tyres have to be fitted with tube? It seems that some of the cheaper tyres like the BKT have to have a tube fitted which adds to the cost after.

I would think that there would have to be an issue with the rim to say that a tube is required.
Tubeless all the way if you can.

But is it a case where only some tyres are Tubeless or can any f the tyres be fitted as tubeless??

My understanding is in an ideal world, all would be fitted tubeless.
The condition of the rim, not the tyre, will dictate whether a tube is required or not. This applies to new tyres only.

Hi guys, looking for abit of help. Currently have 520/70/38's on the back of a Ford 7740. For the 4wd gear ratio would I be needing r28 on the front like 420/70/28's? She needs new tyres all round so any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Here are the tyre size equivelents charts for 85,70 and 65 profiles. Just match what you have - assuming it's right - across the row

That's a very handy chart. Thanks very much. So would I be right in saying that the 520/70/38 are a match for the 420/70/28? I wouldn't be out of ratio or anything like that would I?
