Now I have always had a fractured relationship with Irish Car Dealers I find the level of service to vary between poor and appalling

Here is a recent example I was interested in purchasing a bmw i3 and visited Joe Duffy M50

I went in looked at showroom model for approx 15 mins not one person came near me I said ah its saturday they are very busy so left

Went back on Monday again checked out showroom model for approx 15mins again no one approached

I emailed an enquiry on the website and someone got back to me and that was fine

A few days later I got this

    Good Morning,

Many thanks for your recent valued enquiry to Joe Duffy BMW. We are fully committed to ensuring all our enquiries are followed up promptly and efficiently.

I would very much appreciate if you could confirm by quick reply that you received a follow up call/e-mail from a member of our team and that your enquiry was handled in a professional and courteous manner. All feedback is greatly appreciated and contributes to us achieving our goal in maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

We hope that you would consider us again for all your motoring needs.

If you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

    I replied

Yes i did get a follow up and it was fine but i visited your showrooms on two occasions once on saturday morning which was busy i inspected an i3 for approx 15mins no-one came near i left i went back again on monday morning thinking it would be less busy and indeed it was again i inspected i3 for 15mins no-one came near me i left and resorted to email
    Yours regretfully

That was over a week ago needless to say no reply to my reply so why ask in the first place

Is it just me anyway looks like UK again for me

    Why didn't you approach them?

To be honest, I prefer to be on my own first and then ask someone than having a sales person as soon as I enter the place that stays next to me even after I said I was fine.

Sounds like the sort of place I would like.
Nothing as bad as the place where they pounce on you when all you want is to have a good look at the merchandise.

Having said that I agree with you that there are some bad dealers out there.

I don't know about Joe Duffy's but in my local BMW garage the receptionist area is near the entrance, coffee area. Any time, first time included I announced my intentions to the receptionist who prompted me with an approximate wait time and suggested coffee.

Not trying to defend a bad dealer experience but I find Saturdays the worst day of the week to be visiting car showrooms. They are usually only skeleton staffed at weekends and also there tends to be higher number of people wandering around inside who are only interested in killing a bit of time rather than actually intent on buying something. Now I do appreciate that for some people it's not practical or possible to visit car showrooms during the week but you tend to get more focus at those times than at weekends in my experience.
