Improve signal with 4G router?

Hi, I'm not a techie so have a very very basic question.

I'm using Vodafone 3G/4G MiFi on a Huawei R216. Coverage is OK, never get better than 3G indoors, but if I take the device into the garden I get faster speeds and 4G.

I'm in a rural area in Kerry and am limited in my options for broadband providers, plus I'm tied into a contract with Vodafone for another 6 months. They are the best of what is available in my area.

I want to improve the signal and speed I am getting indoors. Is it better to first try a 4G router like this:

and then if I'm still not happy try adding external antenna?

Or do I try hooking external antenna up directly to the Huawei R216?

593 in the correct position is a good candidate. External antenna if no good position exists.

this is what i got
router
cant fault it. get around 35mb download on average and depending on the time of day i get over 50mb. thats with no external antennas. Plus it supports future mobile bands so it is future proof.
all for 20euro a month with 3 mobile

Did you have any problems setting it up? I'm only getting a couple of Mbps with mine.

no zero problems. it was a piece of cake to setup

how far are you from the transmitter? im 500m thats why my speed is so good. if you are far from the transmitter try getting an external aerial to boast the signal.
