Lost Key

Took car key off my key ring in order to stash it while going for a run. Literally 1 second later cannot find key. I didn't move from the drivers seat in the time between taking the key off my keyring and losing it. Any ideas where it could be? If you put it on the centre armrest then perhaps you knocked it into the back of the car with your elbow. Happened me once with a driving licence.
