I'm lookin for a 4x4 commercial lads. I have a car at the mo but it's just not good enough for all my tools and gear anymore. I also want a commercials boot space for offroad fun and the likes of campin at festivals and trips away. Clear out the tools and throw a few blankets in the back. Tent sorted! I have no need for a tow bar. Only have about 6 or 7k to play with. Iv narrowed it down to a pathfinder or a disco 3. Disco is lookin like the winner cause theres more of them availible. Any clean pathys for that price range are gone in days. Iv not been hearin/ reading great things about the reliability of the disco 3 tho. They seem to b troublesome. Any disco owners out there that can advise me on whether their a good buy or not?

There are more of them available because people are getting shot of them.

Best of them two, probably the pathfinder. If it's built on the navara chassis forget it. Neither are great. The disco is great fun if you like repairs every other day. Pajero or landcruiser lwb be my choice.

Hyundai terracan if you can find one

The Terracan is a dog of a yoke, troublesome 4wd on demand. A Cruiser is a nice refined machine. Get an LC4 from the Uk and commercialise it.

We used to call them the Terracan't

Is there nothing to be said for a van? If not, then Land Cruiser is the daddy.

If been lookin at the auto trader from the UK but for the amount I'm willing to spend I can't see the point. By the time u convert to sterling and vrt the machine plus uv got it travel expenses there an back.

Na I don't wanna van. I want to b able to have a bit of fun with my vehicle. A van is an a2b machine. I want something I can go off road with but can still carry all my tools and gear for work.

This will b my first commercial vehicle too. Iv only recently found out that if have to prove that I work for myself I.e show them I pay my own vat. I don't work for myself. I read that u can get a letter from ur boss to prove u need the jeep for tools and ur gear but u would also need his tax number? Does anyone know if this is defo the case or is it just somethin they might look for when taxing the vehicle?

If your going off road a short wheelbase would be better. Id stick with the Landcruiser only though.

Land Rover are the best of road and for towing.

3.5t vs 2.7t on the Land Cruiser.

I just taxed my navara for the first time. I didn't have any problems doing so, I posted the details in, goods declaration form, commercial insurance ect. I am not self employed and didn't need a letter from work, just stated the nature of my work as well as pps number for tax number
