XBOX pad works but wont work right on my pc

hey ,recently built a new gaming PC ,long story short bought a wired Xbox one controller from game-stop the battlefield 1 edition pad.for some reason it will not work correctly with my PC ,my friend built a PC around the same time as me and bought the same pad and he has no problems whatsoever and his PC is nearly identical in spec ,i have a pretty high end machine ....iv tried troubleshooting the pad in devices and printers and it says the pad will not work correctly with USB 3.0 and i need to switch to USB 2.0 ,problem is that there is no 2.0 ports on my PC there all 3.0 and 3.1 and i'm not convinced this is the actual problem either, tried everything i can think of and i'm no computer whizz ,tried uninstalling reinstalling pad many many times no luck, and i cant find any drivers anywhere online to download and install manually because the pads are suppose to be plug in and play on windows 10 ,SUPPOSE TO BE!its mainly with fifa im having the problems ive litrily not been able to play one game since i bought it.i cant search for a game when i press a its as if it registers twice and automatically cancels ,Rb+a in game is sprint and pass for me, but anytime there pressed together which is quite a lot its as if im pressing alt+tab onda keyboard cause its minimising game and switching back to windowed mode which is an automatic dnf in fifa so as to stop cheaters .the analogue sticks as well are terrible in the main menu i flick them once and there all over the place .im at a loss here dont know what to do with it ,im guna have to buy a wired Xbox 360 controller yet at this rate and i dont know if that will work right either ,its not the pad itself cause i tried the ps4 pad with ds4 windows and same problems with fifa ,maybe its origin ,seems to work fine with big picture mode with my steam games ????any 1 have similar problems ,any help advice appreciated .

If it works fine with other games but not FIFA then it may be a problem with FIFA and not the controller. Might be worth googling for controller problems with FIFA to see if anyones had similar problems.

It seems like there were multiple problems with that controller. An update to Windows 10 last year broke it but it should be fixed now and that double input problem seemed to be a problem in Steam but that was fixed in March this year: http://www.steampowered.com/platform/update_history/index.php

If you have an up to date version of Windows then you shouldnt be getting the problem. Try swapping controllers with your mate to see if its just a dodgy controller you got. You would think that an official Microsoft controller would just work with windows though...

You could also try updating the firmware on the contorlelr itself. See the "Update via PC" instructions near the bottom of this page:

I gave up using that POS on windows, got it free with my Oculus Rift, startup error when 360 controller software is installed - never fixed. Left joystick busted into the housing after 40 hours Witcher 3( not known for joystick waggling ).

Had to RMA the oculus due to a sound issue so got a replacement xbone controller, never plugged in, never will. 360 controllers all the way( bar the ****ty fuse in the wireless version that blows from plugging/unplugging it, I just soldered it ).

I've got 2 XBone compatible controllers from Argos http://www.argos.ie/ProductDisplayTRK019?partNumber=5697614 which both work fine for me plugged into an external USB 3 hub and they've never given me a moment's bother. They're smaller than an official controller and so I find them slightly more comfy for prolonged periods of use.

I have heard of issues with the XOne controller but i got one about 2 months ago and have had zero issues,wireless one too.

I actually find it to be a great controller. Any game ive tried it with ive got zero issues.

Pity i only got rid of EA access a few weeks ago,could have tested it with Fifa 17

OP mentions buying a "wired" Xbox One controller. There is no official Xbox One wired controller. It's a third party controller.

The official Xbox pads work great on PC. I have no experience of these third party controller on PC.

Controller support on PC is on a game by game basis. Maybe there is a bug with Fifa.

I have a problem with my Xbox one controller where by if I have my g27 steering plugged in they conflict and some games are unplayable then due too the cursor moving up and down in the main menu very fast.
