I have 3k worth of dental expenses to claim from 2016. I know how to claim for them on Paye anytime but was wondering can i select to get a refund as opposed to increased tax credits for current year. And if so how do i do this. Maybe it's standard procedure to get refund just not sure. Thanks in advance.

You will get a repayment of tax for 2016. The expenses were incurred in this year, so you won't get tax credits for the current year.

You can't claim relief on health expenses in the current tax year

Don't try to separate the total costs. Just put in €3000 under your name. You paid for it and she's your wife.

It's the same for medical bills.

Ok, I don't have the form to hand but I don't understand how you can't just apply for €3000 under your name?

It sounds like it's suggesting that €3k is too much for one person which obviously isn't the case.

Are you sure there's no box ticked unwittingly somewhere on the screen that says you're applying for 2 people? Have you tried closing all windows and logging out and back in again?
