We have a terrier beagle cross she is two years old now and is very aggressive towards strangers and other dogs ...she broke off the lead today and attacked another dog luckly the other dog was uninjured.I want to know is it too late for this dog to change ..is there any way we could change her behaviour as the kids love her and would be heart broken if we got her put down ...we are in meath and love love to know if there is anywhere nearby good for training or socialising ...

Have you had her from a pup, or only recently got her?
    What socilisation has she had?

IMO it's pretty much never too late for a dog to be trained, if the person is up for the task.

Agree totally. From the past when my dog had been alone with me years. she would take to visitors fairly easily when properly introduced and will still learn new commands at 12 years old .

I would go about this with the guidance of a professional rather than throwing her and yourself in at the deep in end, it may do more harm than good if not done in the correct manner with another dog who is well socialised.

In the meantime teach her to wear a muzzle and keep it on her when walking her, maybe?

I don't think putting the dog down is an option, you just need to manage the situation you have a lot better and be more responsible. You can definitely manage this situation and putting the dog down won't be good for anyone.

OP, you could contact Pampered Paws in Carnaross, they might be able to point you in the right direction of where to go for training, or indeed, they might do it themselves there, I'm not 100% sure.
