Commuting rail experiences from Kildare or Athy to Dublin Heuston

I'm relocating to South Kildare later this year. Will be commuting via train to my job in Dublin 8. I have two options, take a 10 min drive from my house to Athy station and take the first train to Dublin - takes an hour, returning on the 15.10, which takes 46 minutes. Alternatively I can drive 20 minutes to Kildare station, take 7.10 train (38 mins) to Heuston, and take the 15.10 back, (29 mins) and be home just after 4. I wonder which option commuters would recommend? Are there regular delays on either lines I should be aware of? I will pick reliability over cost.

Kildare has a much better frequency.
