I sold an item on ebay. The buyer opened a case saying it didnt arrive then when it did because i provided tracking info they are saying i sent wrong item. I told them to return item but they refused and demand a refund. Also they said if they dont receive the refund they would take legal action against me. They are from uk and im from ireland.

Can they do this as even if they do return it im sure they will return wrong item.

Any information on this or how i can protect myself is really and greatly appreciated

Is the item worth the expense of a court case? If no, forget about it.

Biggest issue you'll have is Paypal siding with them and revoking the payment.

You may need to defend against a small claim, just keep your paperwork handy and respond promptly.

EBays rules are clear. They need to return before you have to refund. Keep paperwork, and ensure you tell person if they return it you will offer refund.

eBay is full of this these days. You'd be a fool to sell expensive goods on it.
