    Hi Guys.

I want to know exactly how much energy I am using on a monthly basis with the Leaf. My preference would be a hardwired energy consumption monitor that I can connect somewhere along the 6sq cable, but I am open to suggestions of any type of device.

Ideally I would be able to see how much is being used and when. The "when" is less important, because I am on night rate and have only charged once during the day to top it up. I should have sourced something before the install, but I completely forgot.

    That's frickin' mental!

I was only just trying to find something similar before I get my install. Like this morning!

I think they're called a submeter. I found this one in the UK and tis fairly cheap. I don't understand things though, so I don't know if this is suitable.

Yeah, I seen one of those here

But I don't think it will go into my rolec, because there is no spare slot for it.

Its a DIN rail meter so you could get your electrician to put it in your distribution board at the point that feeds your EVSE. Simple enough job. I just decided to put it into the EVSE because there was room.

I don't suppose there is one that can tell when day/night rate is active?

There is. I didnt bother with it as it was more expensive and I just wanted a total value as the vast majority of my charging is night time anyway.

I bought from this company for no other reason than I was buying other stuff from them at the time (RCBO, cable etc).
They didnt have it in stock. They had to order specially.

You could also look at other online suppliers like this:

    Sound.

Might try Kelliher's next to me here. Surely most/all electrical wholesalers would have 'em?!

This is a simple 30 quid monitor that has programmable dual tariffs, so you can set up a night rate etc

connect the current transformer solely to the EVSE live feed

    hey presto ,

The sensor on those kind of monitors needs to go on the Live only. If you put it on the whole cable you'll get off readings.

Make sure you have the space to access the live separately.

It was emphasis. I haven't seen an installation yet where there is good access to the Live on its own.

True, to a point, live is available in the CU, the interior of ABL rolec units and in the external connector box of Chargemaster units
