Seriously avoiding putting the electric oven on for the cost, and was yearning for eg flapjack

Google found me a lot of no-bake recipes and although I was very very sceptical I decided to try.

Basically you do the first stage, ie melting and coating, then simply put it in the tin as if to bake , and into the fridge.. Whatever you do, do NOT forget to mark into squares..

It set amazingly. A week on and I am still nibbling small squares and it is moist and tasty . They say to put it in a tin but I left it out in a bowl and love the softer texture

I added peanut butter too.... I prefer the no bake to the baked.

    Why not share the recipe?

Ooops! I do tend not to use recipes for basics...

Used a standard flapiack recipe; halved it...

100 gm oats..( tesco basic porridge oats) ( may try barley flakes next time as I have them in)

    50 gm butter

    50 gm golden syrup

    50 gm sugar..

Melt the last three in a pan very gently and watchfully... I added some peanut butter too which was grand.. just the end of a jar, maybe a tablespoonful)

Stir in oats until all coated as for ordinary flapjack..

NB will reduce sugar next time by a half. Definitely

Into cake tin/tray etc. I think this would work well in paper cake cases as individual servings) MARK OUT SQUARES WITH KNIFe as it sets like rock..

Tray into fridge for about an hour.

They say store in a tin but left mine out in a pretty bowl and it has a delicious texture; for me, better than the rock hard flapjack .
