Hi all. Just said id post about a new ban to be discussed, maybe come into effect tommorow. It was only come to light very recently that a ban on shooting at night or lamping is to be brought forward, without consulting the hunting or farming community. As a farmer & hunter I cannot believe this. Do they not realise this will mean quite an increase in livestock deaths (lambs & chickens) so another decrease in the income of our already empty pockets. They say it is to combat poaching but why not enforce the laws already there, instead of introducing something idiotic like this. Dare I say it may be part of a long term plan to line the pockets of certain individuals, something were all to familiar with here in Ireland.
Okay rant over, any thoughts people!

Where is this being discussed, dail? Sure night hunting deer already banned surely enforce that rather than blanket ban

Hopefully it will never see the light of day(pardon the pun!!). Atm its only a proposal to ban lamping between the hrs of midnight and 6am during the Months from Sep to March by a non-government panel of deer hunters etc.. This proposal is likely to be vigorously opposed by the NARGC and many other hunting groups. Hopefully commonsense on the governments part will prevail when they eventually make a call on this

So the proposal is to ban something that causes loud noises during the hours when most people are in bed.
I see how common sense would be needed here but not sure it's on the government's behalf for once.

As a landowner, sheep farmer and hunter no issue here with no lamping between 12am and 6am, during winter time always find controlling foxes prior to midnight.

The above trend is full of ramblings and how the man is ruining everything, is main argument around early morning deer stalking and fact 6am doesn't really work?

There are many things wrong with it. It effects the genuine hunter & the farmer. If u feel it may not effect you thats fine but there are many it will.
Iv gotten calls at all hours to deal with a problem fox. Rare id get one before 11pm. I do my own control earlier if at all possible but early doesnt work for everyone!
