Time Shift not possible

Just need a bit of direction. I got a Edision OS Mini S2/T2. For now I am using a usb flash drive and I can get it to record and playback, but I am told (everytime I change channel!!!) "TimeShift is not possible". I formatted the drive to ext2, I initialised it using the box. I feel it is still something to do with format and/or partitions and/or folder names.
I would be lost if the solution is achieved using Linux.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    You need to enable timeshift.

Menu -> Setup -> System -> Timeshift Settings

    Connect using filezilla

    Got to the folder HDD

If you don't have folders in there called

    movie
    timeshift

    Create them

Also check in the mounts setup and see if your drive is mounted as HDD sometimes it mounts as SDA1 if so change it to HDD

Had the same problem two nights ago and this sorted it.

Drive needs to be ext 3 or 4 for timeshift I believe ( don't think it gives you the option for ext 2 through GUI ?)

If you've initialised it through box though it should be formatted OK, so as said above check its mounted correctly as if not it won't be able to find the location to record too. If you're able to record or pause at length too it would suggest something along those lines anyways as if it wasn't mounted at all your internal wouldn't have enough space for either of those functions.
