I dropped my less-than-two-months-old phone into a bucket of water - on a boat! facepalm2.gif
So i am now looking again, i probably should look for a waterproof one.
I found this and it looks to be a great price. I will dig a little deeper but so far from what i have read and watched it looks like it will be a price hard to beat.
They will not be in stock until 25th of April, but i find their shipping quite fast from China (My most recent order took just exactly 2 weeks).

You need to use either of these codes to get the price down to €199
    x820664 or BGESLE664
It is coming from China, so it may get stopped by customs and you might be asked for an extra €42 at the door + €7 handling.
    It is the international version

Only downside that I can see- is it doesn't take memory cards- the 64Gb is what you see is what you get. Also- its Android 6 (M)- and no indication of whether its going to be updated to N or O.

Looks like a beast of a machine for the money- but no memory card- and a big question mark over software updates........?

There is some support on XDA if you fancy updating yourself:

I am still looking around, but there seems to be quite a large community for it. Lineage OS and Nougat roms along with
They launched officially in USA a few months back and had some big promotions, so that may have helped get them a community base, and recently officially launched in India.

I had a LETV Le 1 Pro that I smashed.

They're really poor RAM usage and the phone itself was so thick and heavy. This one looks quite similar

I know I'm being pedantic- however, its Revenue, not customs- and your payment was VAT, not customs duty, the phone was custom's duty exempt (as it came to under 150 Euro)- it did however qualify for VAT.

Anyone bit on this phone so? I'm looking to get a decent android and connect mostly by bluetooth these days so don't mind the 3.5mm port gone (it's a shame though as I dj and the phone can be a handy "Oh ****, everything stopped working" lifesafer)...

Mainly wondering about the camera, the rest I can gauge from the specs... Cheers

(Coming from a lumia 950xl but the front facing camera has stopped working and Windows is getting a little dated even for me)

I think I'm sold already, the only use I can see for NFC currently is AndroidPay, but I don't mind missing that (I have nfc chips that I used to program but never really used them that much)

I might as well bite and see how it turns out in a few weeks time with Customs/Import Duty...

    Cheers :)

What ROM are ye all running? Got my son the LeTV LeEco Le Max 2 X829 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip and it's working very well for him bar battery life which is terrible. He's 16 so uses the phone a lot but even on a full charge he won't chance going out without a battery pack as it drains really quickly.

I'm thinking the best thing to do is a full wipe, factory reset etc and install a custom ROM but even though I spent some time reading the XDA thread for the Le Max 2 it's still unclear to me which custom ROM will provide good stability, good battery performance and will play nice with the Google Play store etc.

    Any suggestions?

Guys- honestly, even with better power management- the ability of a ROM to eek out battery life- when you have a teenager with one of these- is minimal. I think it has a 3000mAh battery- your best method for trying to get a bit better battery life- is to minimise screen power draw- set it to 50% perhaps- the biggest enemy of battery life here is the 5.7" screen..........

I do get that but my young lad is fairly switched on technically so has screen brightness on a very low setting etc but the battery is still draining at a massive rate. He is having to recharge it 2-3 times a day which is nuts.

You really need to provide more information. If you look under settings->device->battery (the menu may not match this exactly), you should be able to see what is draining the battery. Rogue apps can eat through even large batteries in no time if they use location and other services.

Maybe try downgrading the screen resolution to Full HD?

Folks I'd stay away from this phone. I have it for the last couple of months. Fingerprint reader died after a month and it's a very common problem (google it), there is also no fix no matter what you read what some online say. You'd have to send your phone back to get fixed.

Aside from that, the phone itself is OK, but battery life isn't great I struggle to get 1 day 7am - 11pm from it and I am a light user....no games, mainly whatsapp and internet browsing.

Bluetooth is a pain on it. Original ROM on it worked in one of my cars but not the other, then I did the LeEco OTA update and it then worked on the second car but stopped on the first.
Android Auto doesn't work very well either if you have a car with it.

I change my phone very often and of all the chinese brands I've had (Oppo, Oneplus, Xiamoi) it's by far the worst.

If you could get one with a snapdragon 625/635 then it might be worth it but the combination of the snapdragon 820, the screen and the software are bad for the battery life and general use.

FYI I've ran Lineage OS on it, not complete enough yet imho, and also RR. RR is probably the best ROM for it but even then there are loads of bugs.
Oh and the usb-c headphones are terrible.

I'm running Madsurfer madmax 5.9.020 along with greenify and a few other exposed modules to keep battery life up.Even with all that I only get a day at most. Camera is OK . does grand during the day not so much at night. Its also a bit heavy ,other then that I can't complain. Does everything I need it to do.
If I was buying now for the same money I'd get the mi 5s. Its better in everyway.
I paid €12 on customs and got a set of OEM headphones too, which iv had no issues with and some great.
I use this site to narrow down my search then XDA and China-devices to find out some about whatever I choose.

Big high Res screen ,power hungry processor and average battery

I can't see how battery life would be great tbh
